About Our Microwave Repair Service

Microwaves store high voltage even when unplugged, so repairs should be done by a trained technician. We focus on installed microwaves where repair is usually worthwhile.

For low-cost countertop models, your technician will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense than repair. Same-day appointments are available depending on scheduling.

Common Microwave Problems and Symptoms

Microwave runs but doesn't heat
Usually a failed magnetron, high-voltage diode, capacitor or a blown internal fuse.
Sparking inside the microwave
Stop using it. Sparking is often caused by a damaged waveguide cover, worn interior paint or metal in the cavity, and can damage the magnetron.
Turntable not turning
Common causes include a failed turntable motor, a worn coupler or a misaligned roller guide.
Keypad or display not responding
A failed touchpad, control board or door switch can make the microwave appear dead or ignore button presses.
Vent fan or light not working
On over-the-range models, fan motors, light sockets and switches can fail independently of the microwave itself.
Microwave won't start or stops mid-cycle
Door switches, the thermal cutoff or a control problem are typical causes.

Microwave Repair FAQs

Can I repair my microwave myself?

We don't recommend it. Microwaves contain a high-voltage capacitor that can hold a dangerous charge even when unplugged.

Do you repair countertop microwaves?

We focus on over-the-range, built-in and drawer microwaves. For inexpensive countertop units, replacement is often more cost-effective, and we'll tell you if that's the case.

How much does microwave repair cost?

The diagnostic visit is $120. After diagnosis, your technician gives you the repair price before any work begins, and the $120 is credited toward the repair if you proceed.

Is the repair covered by a warranty?

Yes. Repairs are covered by a 90-day parts and labor warranty.
